Description
We intend to build a new 2nd floor deck on rear of the house. I had concerns with hanging a deck from the 115 yr old brick and opted for a freestanding steel frame to ensure stability and longevity. I have stamped structural engineer drawings noting the massive footings required for the loads calculated. To reduce cost and weight, engineer planned for 2x10 wood joist supported by the steel frame below. I will use composite decking and combination of composite railing and metal spindles. I have put in time and money to make sure this deck is durable and sturdy. I have steel fabricators and erectors lined up and I will be doing the decking and handrail myself
